DONALD TRUMP has shown his technological ignorance once again as, post-Mueller, he brings his obsession with Hillary Clinton's emails back to the table.
The jobbing actor, best known for his appearance as himself in the classic documentary This is Vermin Supreme, questioned his political nemesis's use of ‘BleachBit' software to delete the offending emails.
Speaking to Fox 'News', Trump explained: "Look, she lost, they deleted 33,000 emails. And they were BleachBit, that's a big deal, and it's a very expensive process".
It isn't. It's free. And the guy is clearly a tool.
Speaking of tools, the makers of the Bleachbit tool explain: "BleachBit has always been free of charge for all users, including personal, governmental, commercial, and educational. All computer types, including desktops, laptops, and servers,"
"BleachBit is also 'free as in speech' meaning the source code (software blueprints) are available to all users to audit, learn from, and improve on."
But facts don't seem to be an issue for The Don: "And almost nobody does it because it is so expensive," he continued. "That's the way you really get rid of it. So she deleted 33,000 emails. Can you imagine if I did that?"
Hillary Clinton has always maintained that the emails were of a personal nature, and the member of staff who deleted them did so to comply with a rule that all emails over 60 days old should be deleted.
Trump's complete ignorance over matters of tech is only matched by his willingness to talk about them in the terms of a three-year-old.
Yesterday he had a meeting with Google boss Sundar Pichai, after which he told reporters that: "He stated strongly that he is totally committed to the U.S. Military, not the Chinese Military." adding that Google wouldn't be "helping China and their military."
This will be news to Googlers who previously staged protests over the company's potential military alliances, leading to a withdraw from bidding for the Department of Defense's JEDI programme.
The tender was eventually given to Microsoft with its Hololens 2 headset. μ
