APPLE'S SECOND-GENERATION AirPods will feature souped-up wireless charging tech that'll see them fully re-juice in just 15 minutes.
Last week we heard that Apple's AirPods 2 will debut at the firm's services-focused event on 25 March, and now we're hearing what they'll likely have in store, courtesy of XDA writer Max Weinbach.
Over on Twitter, Weinbach repeats earlier rumours that the second-gen AirPods will offer "very fast" wireless charging functionality that will enable the toothbrush-head-a-like earbuds to charge from empty to full juice in just 15 minutes; Apple's current AirPods tout three hours of use with a 15-minute charge
So the Apple news. AirPods wireless charging will happen. It will be VERY fast (0-100 in 15 minutes.) That speed is for the AirPods AND the case. It will probably use Qi charging.— Max Weinbach (@mweinbachXDA) March 3, 2019
There will be a downside though, the case will be bigger in one direction and heavier.
However, in exchange for this souped-up wireless charging tech, users will have to deal with a chubbier case, which Weinbach says will be "bigger and heavier".
Weinbach (we just like writing it, ok?) also says a redesign is on the cards; AirPods 2 will reportedly feature a matte finish, similar to that of the Apple Pencil. There are also rumours that Apple's 2019 iPhones will also feature a matte glass appearance, so this could be a new trend for all of Apple's upcoming products.
According to earlier rumours, Apple's AirPods 2 will also feature including baked-in Siri support, the ability to take biometric measurements, and a new black colour option.
In a separate tweet, Weinbach sheds some like on Apple's rumoured 'Dark Mode'. While previous chatter had claimed the feature would debut in iOS 13, the tipster says that work on the feature is running "behind schedule", adding that it'll "probably" debut in iOS 13.1. µ
