SPARE A THOUGHT FOR NeoGAF user hiphoptherobot today. He got his Nintendo Switch two weeks early, but can't do anything with it except look at it.
It's funny in a way, but rather cruel. The chap's retailer of choice must have got its posting dates mixed up, and while it might have done the decent thing and bunged some games in as well, hiphiptherobot, probably not his real name, just got a dumb box.
He has posted about it on NeoGAF, lamenting his position and complaining that while he can turn the thing on and push some buttons, it just won't take him all the way through to satisfaction. We've all been there. Except we haven't all gone on about it.
He posted up an image of his new toy to the relevant forum and people were intrigued by how he had come to have his hands on one so early. Some people assumed that he was a thief or a reviewer, or worked for Nintendo. Neither of these is correct.
"Just lucky is all," he said. "However, I have no games so all I can do is flip through the menus."
So not that lucky, then. It can't be much fun having another block of plastic in your house that you spent money on but can't do anything with. The video that he has posted (below) is interesting if for no other reason that it lets you see what the Switch looks like when you can't play games on it.
We do not like to make assumptions here, but we do assume that hiphoptherobot might also have a NES Classic in his collection. If he does he has plenty of other things that he could be doing.
For example, he could be hacking the mother into the middle of next week and opening up the 30 game-boasting box to a world of SEGA and Gameboy games, which sounds like an afternoon well spent to us. µ
