UPCOMING NINTENDO SWITCH TITLE Super Mario Odyssey sees everyone's favourite plumber come to the 'real world' for the first time, but in a world where Donald Trump is about to become president and money is worth nothing, it's not all that realistic.
YouTuber CrowbCat has fixed that, sadly, and has used a Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA IV) mod to bring a petrifying person-sized Mario to the real world.
"Mario discovers the real world but it isn't as fun as he thought it'd be," the video's description warns. Gulp.
The reworked trailer sees Slenderman Mario plucked out of 'New Donk City' and placed into a more true-to-life Liberty City. It's even more disturbing than the original trailer, which saw Mario interacting with humans twice his size, and perhaps demonstrates how a moustached cartoon plumber would actually cope in New York City.
Mario is a pretty flexible guy, but he struggles handle the physics of a real-world concrete jungle, not to mention hostile pedestrians and busy roads chock-full of angry New York cab drivers.
Mario's time in Liberty City also sees the once-beloved video game character engage in bar fights, steal a helicopter, dance on top of the Statue of Liberty, and - weep - get a lap dance in a club called Honkers.
Thankfully, besides the fact that our childhood is ruined and we might never sleep again, none of this will feature in the actual Super Mario Odyssey game for the Nintendo Switch. No exact release date for the title has not been confirmed, but it will be out in time for Christmas.
