MAGIC BEAN sellers rejoice, you may be back in business. Some people are so stupid that they have been convinced they can sort out the no headphone jack situation on the iPhone 7 by drilling a hole.
We'll just leave that there for a second. It has taken some time for us to get our heads round it. We will start with the facts. Some prankster has uploaded a video to YouTube (below) that shows how you can, if you are an idiot, solve the headphone problem quickly and simply.
The video shows someone putting a not very real looking phone into a vice and putting a drill to it. The size of the drill bit is not specified, but presumably it is 3.5mm because the video shows that it works with a normal set of headphones.
We are not smart enough to work at a Genius Bar in an Apple Store, but we are not bad at smelling bullshit. The very idea that this might work is stupid enough, but the thought that anyone would actually fall for it makes us want to paint spots on a pig and sell it as a Dalmatian.
We have not met anyone who has actually fallen for this yet, so we are still at the ‘writing magic on tins of beans' stage. But the internet provides, and a number of willing victims have expressed concerns about the resulting mess in the YouTube comments section.
"Is there certain headphones I need to use? Also my iPhone seems to be dead. Do I have to charge it for a long time?! Plz help, this is my first phone," said one punter.
Another said: "Help! Now my old headphones fit in but the phone doesn't work anymore!"
Perhaps our favourite, because it is so succinct, is: "Ummm... My sound isn't working! Is this a bad joke?" µ
