INFAMOUS AND undeniably busy hacker Guccifer 2.0 was briefly banned from Twitter this weekend, but emerged unabashed with boasts about the leaking of contact details on 193 current and former members of Congress.
Guccifer 2.0 had already made a name for himself, but won a lot of attention when he released the details of US Democrat politicians late last week.
Affected potential candidates for Congress were shocked and appalled, and Guccifer somehow had his Twitter account suspended and some elements of his WordPress blog removed.
"Some content on this page was disabled on August 13 2016 on receipt of a valid complaint regarding the publication of private information," said the most recent post on the blog published on 12 August.
Twitter is a bit more active. Guccifer 2.0 tweeted on 12 August that he intended to send the Congress candidates' info to WikiLeaks, but then nothing. That is until 14 August when Guccifer 2.0 emerged from a short period of silence with a celebratory blurt.
His hashtags relate to the work that he has been doing politically. We recently mentioned his name in association with the case of Hillary Clinton and the flighty email servers, and in the incident of the hacking of Donald Trump and co, which revealed much, but not what lies under the infamous Trump rug.
The content of Guccifer 2.0's WordPress blog has been removed, but a cached version revealed that he was proving the claims that he was the hacker, and exposing political shenanigans. He also boasted that this was easy.
"It's time for new revelations now. All of you may have heard about the DCCC hack. As you see I wasn't wasting my time! It was even easier than in the case of the DNC breach," he wrote.
"As you see, the US presidential elections are becoming a farce, a big political performance where the voters are far from playing the leading role. Everything is being settled behind the scenes as it was with Bernie Sanders.
"I wonder what happened to the true democracy, to the equal opportunities, the things we love the US for. The big money bags are fighting for power today. They are lying constantly and don't keep their word.
"The MSM [mainstream media] are producing tons of propaganda hiding the real stuff behind it. But I do believe that people have [a] right to know what's going on inside the election process in fact."
There followed a lot of information including passwords and log-ins, and we all know what sort of thing that can lead to. µ
Might need to come up with a better name though
There's an app for *that*
