DELL HAS UNVEILED a refreshed version of its Latitude 5000 Series laptops, a business-focused notebook line powered by Intel's 6th generation Core vPro processor.
Dell's new Latitude 5000 Series laptops are available now in 14in and 15in models, named the E5470 and the E5570 respectively, and are described as having "industry-leading security and durability".
Both models are said to be up to 27 percent thinner and up to 18 percent lighter than the previous generation, measuring 24mm thick and weighing just over 2kg, making them "ideal for mobile professionals", according to Dell. The series also features a carbon fibre-reinforced polymer chassis for better durability and less weight.
The machines use a quad-core 6th gen Intel vPro processor that brings wireless display options, along with USB Type-C connectivity for more efficient docking and optional touch displays with Corning Gorilla Glass. Dell also claimed that the high density 84Whr battery powering the new laptops will offer up to a whopping 17 hours on a single charge.
The new Latitude 5000 Series also has "the world's most secure, manageable and reliable features" with improvements and enhancements on the previous iterations. These include an additional credential storage layer with optional integrated smartcard and touch fingerprint readers that isolate secure operations through Dell's ControlVault software.
"This tool processes and stores critical authentication data on a separate chip, providing a protective and more secure boundary and reducing the risk of malware accessing private information," said the firm. "The Latitude 5000 Series is the world's most durable business-class laptop in the industry, withstanding more military-grade tests than any other."
The Latitude 5000 Series is available to buy now from Dell's online store, starting from £549. µ
