ASUS has its sights set firmly on the Apple Watch with the newly unveiled ZenWatch 2, a metal-clad Android Wear smartwatch that will be made available in two sizes.
Unveiled at Computex on Monday, the Asus ZenWatch 2 will seem immediately familiar to many, given its brazen similarities with the Apple Watch.
Improving on the original Asus ZenWatch, the ZenWatch 2 will be made available in two sizes - 37mm and 41mm - which have 18mm and 22mm bands respectively.
The stainless steel case will be made available in three familiar colours - silver, gunmetal and rose gold - while there will be 18 strap choices to pick from at launch.
The ZenWatch 2 comes with a (you guessed it) metal watch crown, which Asus claims "enhances the user experience by providing a new way to interact with the watch".
The Asus ZenWatch 2 does get one up on the Apple Watch in terms of design, however, boasting IP67 certification.
On the specifications side, the Asus ZenWatch 2 features an AMOLED screen with a piece of 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 3 on top, and there's a yet to be specified Qualcomm processor inside.
The smartwatch is powered by the latest version of Android Wear, equipping it with native WiFi support and new gesture controls, while Asus' custom software allows users to co-create their own watch faces.
Asus equips the smartwatch with other "exclusive" features, including Zen UI integration, FoneHelper and Remote Camera, which lets users display their smartphone's camera viewfinder remotely on their wrist.
The Asus ZenWatch 2 features a number of sensors for tracking activities such as running and cycling.
"The next-gen Wellness app lets ZenWatch 2 wearers view all of their activity information in one convenient location," Asus said.
"It displays progress towards goals as well as activity summaries with attractive graphs that are easy to interpret and analyse and can be used to set future fitness goals."
