FRUITY MOBILE PHONE COMPANY Orange is dropping one of the good things the firm had going for it.
In fact it has dropped two good things: free cinema tickets and, perhaps far, far, worse, free pizza.
Orange has provided this pairing every Wednesday for as long as we can remember, but it will bring it to an end on 25 February. We will have to find something else to do and something else to eat on Wednesdays.
Orange hasn't given a reason for its decision to take date night away from a collection of people, but it has blogged about it.
The blunt message is unapologetic, despite its terrible ramifications. Orange, presumably, understands that the best way to make a tough announcement is to just make it.
"Orange Wednesdays is coming to an end. You have until Wednesday 25 February to take advantage of our two-for-one cinema tickets and PizzaExpress offer," it says in bold text.
"All you need to do to get two-for-one at PizzaExpress is show your Orange Wednesdays text ticket when you order - yes, the very same text that you show at the cinema. Easy cheesy!"
Wednesday comes at the middle of the week and is often referred to as hump day. While a pizza and the cinema is a dandy way to spend the evening, books and other foods are also available.
EE, or Orange, launched the two-for-one offer in 2003 and immediately gave its customers an excuse to go out. µ
