FINNISH GAME DEVELOPER Rovio has announced yet another Angry Birds title that will be coming to iOS and Android soon.
The name of the game pretty much gives away everything you need to know about the app, as it is called Angry Birds Friends.
Clearly taking tips from rivals like Zynga and Popcap, Rovio's latest bird-flinging app lets lonely Angry Birds fans challenge friends, and we're assuming strangers, to some "pig popping" action. Rovio's words, not ours.
Rovio said on its blog, "Angry Birds Friends spruces up the classic Angry Birds experience with fun new social features that integrate with Facebook.
"For the first time ever the fans of Angry Birds can use their mobile to challenge their Facebook friends in weekly tournaments for the coveted bronze, silver and gold crown on the levels. Gather daily rewards, send and receive gifts of power-ups with your friends and brag about your accomplishments."
Further details about the app remain slim. But we're guessing that it will result in more irritating Facebook notifications from friends pleading with you to pop some pigs with them. It's still unclear whether the app will be free or paid-for too, but we're expecting that more details will tip up in the coming weeks.
The announcement of Angry Birds Friends arrived along with the firm's financial results for 2012, which show that the app creators raked in revenues of $195 million, 45 percent of which came from merchandise, which likely included Angry Birds hats and lunchboxes. We're starting to think that we're in the wrong line of work. µ
