UK RETAILER Carphone Warehouse has shed some light on the UK release date of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, revealing that it will be arriving on 22 August.
On the retailer's web site, Samsung's second generation Galaxy Tab can be pre-ordered ahead of its release one week from tomorrow. The 16GB WiFi-only model will set you back £299.99, while the 3G + WiFi model will cost £100 extra at £399. Carphone Warehouse is offering the tablet in two different flavours, black and silver.
While we're glad the release date has finally emerged, it seems odd that Samsung would decide to release the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 now when its latest tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, is expected to tip up later this month. The Galaxy Note 10.1 offers specifications that are very similar to those of the Galaxy Tab 2, with the addition of support for Samsung's 'S-Pen' stylus and a faster quad-core processor.
Still, for those after a cheap alternative to the pricey Apple Ipad, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 also features Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a 10.1in 1280x800 touchscreen, a dual-core 1GHz processor, a 3MP rear-facing camera, a VGA front-facing camera and a 7000mAh battery. µ
