THE OLYMPIC EDITION Samsung Galaxy S3 arrived at the Carphone Warehouse today, coinciding with the launch of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Unlike the original Galaxy S3, which earned Samsung record profits in the second quarter, the Olympic Edition boasts a limited edition Team GB cover, enabling customers to show their support by waving their smartphones during the games.
Simon Stanford, VP of Samsung's Telecommunications & Networks Division said, "As a Worldwide Olympic Partner, we at Samsung want everyone to get behind Team GB and offer them support during the Olympic Games.
"We are delighted to be able to offer Carphone Warehouse customers the chance to own this exclusive London 2012 Samsung Galaxy SIII handset, combining the chance to support Team GB with owning a piece of cutting-edge Samsung technology."
Earlier this week, Samsung, an official sponsor of the Olympics, also revealed that its Galaxy S3 smartphones will double as hotel room keycards during the Games, thanks to a partnership with the Holiday Inn in Statford City.
Available to competing athletes, the Galaxy S3 phones will also allow users to control lighting, change television channels and act as an in-room phone extension.
The Olympic Edition Samsung Galaxy S3 handset will be available from the Carphone Warehouse on August 1st, with prices starting from £28 per month. µ
