INTERNET SEARCH GIANT Google reportedly is preparing to launch its rumoured online storage service, Google Drive, later this month.
According to online reports Google Drive will make its debut on Tuesday, 24 April, with support for IOS, Android, Mac and Windows. US web site The Next Web claims to have learned that the service will be accessible via http://drive.google.com, which presently displays a not so exciting Error 404 message, and reported that it will also tie-in neatly with other Google applications.
There are also rumours that in a bid to compete with rival services Google will offer customers 5GB of free cloud storage when they sign up as a new Google Drive user. This bests the 2GB of free holding space offered by Dropbox and matches the amount offered by Apple's Icloud and Box. Google will also offer users who don't mind forking out cash additional storage, but specifics remain to be revealed.
Google told The INQUIRER that it is unable to comment on speculation, but expect to hear an announcement in one week. µ
