KOREAN HARDWARE FIRM Samsung has started rolling out the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system update for its Galaxy S II smartphone.
The update will spread over Europe gradually, kicking off in Poland, Hungary, Sweden and Korea. Also following soon is the same update for its Galaxy Note, Galaxy R, and Galaxy Tab tablet device.
Older units are not ignored, though they are not showered with such greatness. The firm said that users of its 7in Tab, S Plus, S SCL and W devices will get an upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread some time later this month.
"We expect that our customers will enjoy an enhanced experience with their Galaxy device through this upgrade. Samsung is committed to satisfying our customer needs", said JK Shin, president of the IT & Mobile Communications Division of Samsung Electronics.
Although Samsung said that the release will spread across Europe, we have not been able to find out when it will reach UK users yet. We will update this story when we find out. µ
