WANNABE SOCIAL NETWORKING GIANT Paul Ceglia has lost a third legal team as he continues to push for a share of Facebook.
Ceglia has repeated his ownership claims and has claimed to have emails from Mark Zuckerberg. Facebook has denied this and has said that the emails are not real but Ceglia has doggedly pursued the case.
Unfortunately for him he has little support. According to Bloomberg he lost a third legal team this week after he allegedly asked them to violate a court order.
Lawyer Jeffrey Lake filed papers in federal court in Buffalo, New York yesterday asking to withdraw from the case. Ceglia and his new legal team now have three weeks to pick through the murky details and pick up the challenge.
"Paul Ceglia is currently in discussions with several attorneys concerning substitution of new counsel in this case," said Lake in an affidavit filed with the court.
"It is my understanding that these attorneys are diligently coming up to speed with the facts and proceedings in an effort to effectively represent Paul Ceglia in future proceedings."
Typically and perhaps unsurprisingly, Lake appears to have fallen out with Ceglia over whether it was right to give Facebook correct and accurate copies of the emails and accounts that include proof of his ownership. According to Bloomberg, Ceglia instructed his lawyers "not to comply" with the court order.
Ceglia has been chasing his ownership stake since last year, and has used the emails as the basis for his claims. Facebook has consistently denied their validity, however. µ
