BROADBAND INTERNET PROVIDER Virgin Media has announced an exclusive partnership with the music streaming service Spotify.
Virgin Media is now able to claim it is the only digital entertainment provider in the UK to offer Spotify across multiple services. More specifically, the move means that Virgin Media will be the only service provider to offer Spotify through consumers' TVs.
Andreas Liffgarden, director of business development at Spotify added, "By teaming up with Virgin Media we're giving millions more people across the UK the chance to enjoy all the world's music at their fingertips, however they choose to listen to it - be that on their computer, mobile, and for the first time through their TV."
The Spotify service is due to launch at Virgin Media in the next few months and will be available for both new and current customers in a range of special offers. Both Unlimited and Premium subscriptions will be available and Virgin Media customers will be given access to exclusive content and promotions.
Virgin Media said, "Customers enjoying Virgin Media TV powered by TiVo, the UK's first next-generation ‘connected' TV service, will be able to enjoy their Spotify service through a jointly developed app for subscribers."
Existing customers will get the first opportunity to use the service whilst new customers will be able to keep existing Spotify accounts and take advantage of bundle deals.
The addition of Spotify will add an attraction to Virgin Media for consumers looking for an entertainment provider, especially music lovers. Key things yet to be revealed are prices and what the 'exclusive content and promotions' will be. µ
