SHINY TOY FANBOIS are rejoicing as the white Iphone 4 will hit the shores of Blighty tomorrow.
Apparently the world has been waiting for Apple to release the white Iphone 4 to the market and the cappuccino company tells us that it is beautiful. But the company is running out of colour ideas because all the fruit themed marketing types have to offer is white and, well, black.
The Iphone is about the only Ithing that hasn't been dipped in Apple's white livery yet so it was only a matter of time before the gadget maker figured out how to make them. But no matter, it will undoubtedly go on to sell in the millions.
Apple will roll out the white Iphone 4 in the UK tomorrow and nearly everywhere else. As usual, Apple expects us to guess UK pricing but it will go for $199 in the US for the 16GB model and $299 for the 32GB version.
Apple also announced that the WiFi enabled Ipad 2 will launch in Asia starting this week.
The shiny white Ipad 2 is due to hit Asian outlets starting with Japan tomorrow. Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore and eight additional countries will follow on 29 April. Finally, China buyers will get their hands on the Ipad 2 from 6 May through Apple's own stores and selected resellers.
Apple has finally got around to releasing the feature set that should have graced the first Ipad so Asian punters will get the WiFi, WiFi+ and 3G flavours with either 16GB, 32GB or 64GB. But there is still no Flash support for Ipad 2 fanbois. Apple hasn't announced regionalised pricing for the Ipad 2 yet but, it's likely to be cheaper in Asia than it is in the UK.
What we can't work out is how Apple's allocating its stock. Demand for the Ipad 2 has been through the roof, despite the high-cost. Last week long queues were still forming outside Apple's flagship London store as shortages lingered. Resellers have also had stocking issues as UK and US stores reportedly have run out of the Ipad 2.
Apple will have stock reserved for certain locations and will probably have more Ipad 2 devices awaiting delivery to Asian countries.
But why doesn't it do UK fanbois a favour and ship more Ipad 2 tablets here? The cappuccino company has seen record results over the second quarter of this year, so you'd think it would put some of that money into actually producing more units.
Or maybe it just can't meet the demand, which after all is not a bad problem for a corporate flogger of overpriced gadgets made by thousands of young Chinese people working at nearly slave labour to have. µ
