US PRESIDENT Barack Obama's staffer assigned to twitter for him must be stepping down as the man is advertising for a suitable replacement.
A job advert for the Social Networks Manager role is already online, and Obama obviously knows what he wants, even if he does not seem to grasp how most people really communicate through the applicable mediums.
The lucky hire, who will have to run the White House's Twitter, Facebook and Myspace accounts, should have, "Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail; your writing is strong, sharp, and personable," which makes us wonder what blogs, tweets and Facebook pages he has been looking at as comparisons.
The job is not a nine to five gig and it involves a lot of working to deadlines, apparently, which given the nature of the Internet is a bit like running the hurdles when the hurdles are on the back of leopards who are also running, and hungry.
Remote working is not a possibility, as candidates must be willing to relocate to Washington, DC and have experience using social media for organising things. We always thought it had the opposite effect.
In the UK our policians use Twitter to call other parties' members names, so let's hope he does not look over here. µ
