We go hands-on with the Finns' mammoth 6in Windows Phone 8 smartphone

FINNISH PHONE MAKER Nokia's Lumia 1520 is a device that holds several 'firsts'. It's Nokia's first phablet device, having a 6in screen, and is the first HD 1080p and quad-core Windows Phone 8 device.

Given its size, the Nokia Lumia 1520 won't be to everyone's taste, but we found it to be the slickest Windows Phone 8 device yet.

The phone runs the latest version of Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 mobile operating system, which as well as adding support for an HD 1080p display and a quad-core processor also adds a number of software features. It can now support an extra row of Live Tiles on the homescreen, and it gives a boost to multi-tasking and all around performance.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 also features a 20MP rear-facing camera with Carl Zeiss optics and optical image stablisation, 32GB of internal storage, 4G LTE support and a 3,400mAh battery, which we found easily breezed through a whole day of heavy usage.
