ALTHOUGH OLDER than the Iphone 5, the HTC One X is still one of the most exciting handsets on the smartphone market, offering a fierce competitor to Apple's latest smartphone with its 4.7in Super LCD screen and nippy quad-core Tegra 3 processor.
Still, having sold five million units in its opening weekend, the Iphone 5 is clearly proving that it's the greatest Iphone yet, luring customers with its larger 4in screen, sleek new design and faster A6 processor.
Both phones scored highly in our reviews, so now it's time to find out which one is really better.
There's no denying that both the Iphone 5 and the HTC One X are good looking smartphones. The Iphone 5 is the skinnier of the two, measuring 7.6mm thick compared to the 8.6mm girth of the One X, and it sports an aluminium and glass coated casing, lending the Iphone 5 an overall high-end feel.
The HTC One X, although crafted from polycarbonate plastic, still feels like a high-end handset, with its matte texture giving it a more expensive feel than the glossy Samsung Galaxy S3 rival, and making it feel like it could withstand a fair few tumbles.
Unlike the Samsung Galaxy S3 though, the HTC One X isn't very comfortable to hold, the handset's size making it difficult to grasp easily with one hand. Placing the home button on the top of the phone makes it impossible to operate the phone with one hand too, with our fingers struggling to reach the top of the screen. Saying that, those with big hands won't struggle as much as we did.
The same has to be said about the Iphone 5 as well, as although it's not as large as the One X, its right angled edges can make it awkward to use. However, with a weight of just 112g, compared to the 130g weight of the HTC One X, it certainly proved to be less of a strain on our pocket seams.
Neither the Iphone 5 nor the HTC One X are perfectly designed. However, the Iphone 5's aluminium backing makes it feel more expensive than its HTC rival, evincing more style rather than the HTC One X's functional feel. What's more, we noticed during our time with the HTC One X that it picks up dirt really easily too, and can prove a bit of a nightmare to clean.
