A rival to the Apple Ipad

KOREAN HARDWARE MAKER Samsung's tablet certainly has us excited. The original 7in Galaxy Tab was quite a useful bit of kit. Small enough to fit in a cargo pocket and handy for the train. But now, Samsung has fallen for Steve Jobs' propaganda about 7in tablets being dead on arrival and has responded by introducing a 10.1in model.

We've had a chance to get our hands on one for a fiddle. For those looking for an non fruit themed tablet, it looks like this one could give the Ipad a run for its money. Android 3.0 Honeycomb is slick and responsive and the hardware is up to Samsung's usual high standard. The question is, will it charm us like the 7in model did? Judge for yourself in the video above. µ

Review vs Features

Sarah what you have listed are features/specs of the product not something you review (ie they are facts) you can get them from the box or from any site selling the product. A review is opionion which you dont get on the box

Lag lag lag

I really want to like the Android tablets but why oh why is navigation so slow?

Reviews (this one included) talk about 'smooth' transition between screens - smooth? - you mean be slow surely?

And did you notice the piece on the Photo functionality - the back button was pressed 5 times before it did anything.

Maybe Ice Cream Sandwich will fix - but right now I'm going to hold out.

Copying Apple again....

Again and again. When will they all learn not to copy Apple and start designing something from their own imagination...

If Samsung were smart like they want us to believe, would have made a tablet with their own Orion SoC and blow others minds with their design and functionality.

Instead, they started copying Apple (again) and doing a tablet without any connectivity, just to be cool... and put some GSM features and voila!

FAIL!

From far pint of view, Asus EEE Pad Transformer is the best tablet on the market today. It's features and interesting concept will win lots of hearts.

Who needs a 10.1" phone anyway??????
Galaxy Tab (1st gen) was much better concept, too bad it was slow and buggy and bad battery. Look at Playbook and HTC Flyer (GSM), even if greedy Jobs said they will be DOA, I think not, there are still people that want a tablet easy to carry around, fast and maybe with a phone built in.. Make it with a good processor and improve the OS, and invest in long lasting batteries and it will have success.

Samsung 10.1 is YACAT (Yet Another Crap Android Tablet)

only half a review then !!

so what about screen res?
how much ram?
is it dual or single core?
what speed cpu?
exactly how much storage is there?
whats the connectivity?
whats the claimed battery life?
have you ever seen a real hardware review?
In fact the least you could have done is state the official specs,.. I say least you could have done, but you did less, though i'm suprised you didn't just say "it's a tablet" and leave it at that, which would have been slightly less informative than your almost informative review - well done you
