A 160GB PLAYSTATION has been outed by US retailer Gamespot.
Online retailers have a history of posting new kit before manufacturers have made any official announcements. In July Amazon's German site listed a slim Xbox 360 deal with Kinect bundled in the kit. Now it's Sony's turn.
Gamespot has already pulled the plug on the link, probably after Sony's trained snipers moved in for the kill. Now the page has mysteriously vanished and is defaulting as a bad link because it is, well, dead. It is an ex-link. It has shuffled off its mortal coil, and so on.
However, Engadget sensibly cached the webpage and took a snap for all to peruse.
The 160GB model was listed with a Gods of War lll games bundle and is destined for US shores priced at $299 (£191) plus shipping today.
How likely is it? Very. Sony is already selling a white PS3 with the option of a 160GB or 32GB hard drive in Japan. Those models went on sale just at the tail end of July and Japan is always a test bed for new kit before vendors roll out in other areas.
On top of that, it turns out that Sony has a press conference lined up at the big gaming expo Gamescom in Cologne tomorrow. Sony hasn't made any pre-brief announcements on what's coming but you can take a wild guess. µ
