STILL UNEQUIVOCALLY the only decent James Bond game ever made, Nintendo's Goldeneye reboot will have a limited edition golden "classic controller pro".
Shame it is not chucking in the three-nippled Bond villain Scaramanga whose golden gun, Nintendo says, has "inspired" the gold paddle. Punters buying the GoldenEye 007 Classic Edition will get the gold Classic Controller Pro as a bundle this Autumn.
Activision and Nintendo have been working on giving Goldeneye a dusting down for the Wii for what seems like ages. Based on the stunning original from Rare games that helped sell thousands of Nintendo 64s, while the maps are the same Daniel Craig is 007 this time around and of course the graphics have been improved and a huge new multi-player component added on. The gold controller is just the icing on the cake, for your delectation.
"In addition to the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, GoldenEye will also support the Wii Zapper for 'point and shoot' gamers, giving players several ways to experience GoldenEye on Wii," said David Pokress, head of marketing for licensed properties at Activision.
"We also couldn't pass up the opportunity to pay homage to the golden gun with the gold Classic Controller Pro, which looks cool and also gives shooter fans a familiar control scheme to use as they blast their way through the game."
The INQUIRER previously reported that Goldeneye was coming to the Wii while Rare Games had been taken out of the development picture. Microsoft bought the company in 2002 to make titles exclusively for the Xbox 360. µ
Great game, had a great time playing it at my mates, brought back fond memories of my old N64. And I like how you completely ignored the developer, Eurocom, who actually made the game for Activision so I would hardly claim they were working on it, just publishing it.
There is also a great PC based remake, done as a mod for the source engine. Very nicely done too: http://wiki.goldeneyesource.net
