Star Trek Valentine's Day is a record breaker
Hardly impressive though

A PLAN to get as many Star Trek fans together on Valentine's Day to set a world record sounds like a bleak and depressing occasion.

wallpaper-22-1680x1050The idea, which presumably had a tenuous link to romance but an even bigger one to the Star Trek online multiplayer game, saw people, you know, like the quiet bloke down the road, don their finest costumes and head to London's Millennium Bridge on a cold wet Sunday intended for sharing with lovers.

Although this will have been dangerous in itself, Star Trek costumes tend not to gel well with travelling on British public transport, and while the Bridge is not known for its sturdiness just ninety-nine people turned up. We'd like to imagine that this was a mix of couples, along with someone's strange uncle, but we don't know. We were at home watching the football.

Depressing as the whole things sounds, 99 people is apparently enough to break a Guinness world record for hanging around on a bridge looking like an idiot. So congratulations to everyone who attended.

In the future though, it may be best to stick with playing online. µ
