ADOBE HAS RELEASED an updated edition of Creative Cloud software suite, bringing more features to Photoshop CC, Adobe Illustrator CC, Adobe Dreamweaver CC, Adobe Premiere Pro CC and others, along with three new apps for the Apple iPad.
The firm added features to a total of 14 apps, and it said the releases cover the entire spectrum of enterprise and consumer customers.
Many of the apps have new capabilities, such as tools in Photoshop CC for photographers such as Blur Gallery motion effects, Focus Mask that makes "portrait shots with shallow depth of field stand out" and Perspective Warp for adjusting the perspective of a specific part of an image without affecting the surrounding area.
"Our shift to Creative Cloud has given us a broad canvas on which to innovate like never before," said David Wadhwani, SVP of Digital Media at Adobe.
"We've taken bold steps with this milestone release, fast-tracking new features to industry-defining tools such as Photoshop and Indesign, while introducing mobile apps that turn tablets into indispensable creative tools."
Three of the new apps are for the iPad, and they are Adobe Sketch, Adobe Line and Adobe Photoshop Mix. Supporting these is a piece of hardware called Ink and Slide, a digital ruler and pen combination for drawing. Adobe said that the apps offer professional-grade features.
The Adobe iPad apps are free to download, and the other updates will be provided free to new and existing Adobe customers. A video showing some of the new features is embedded below.
Adobe has also revealed that there are now over 2.3 million Creative Cloud subscribers, far more than it expected when it first launch the service in 2012.
In May Adobe apologised after the Creative Cloud went down and left users locked out of their content and unable to work while the firm was also hit by a major security breach that affected millions of users worldwide. µ
