UNITED STATES MOBILE OPERATOR T-Mobile has responded to Blackberry's public breakup with it, and it does not seem very happy.
John Legere, CEO of T-Mobile USA, wrote an open letter to Blackberry, a letter that was accompanied by a picture of his face (left). This image perhaps better demonstrates how he really feels towards the Canadian phone maker, or suggests that he is planning to audition for a Starship cover band.
Legere's letter addresses the firms' recent breakup, which follows T-Mobile's "anti-Blackberry" advertising campaign that saw it looking to lure customers away from Blackberry handsets to iPhones.
Legere's passive-aggressive letter begins, "We were disappointed in Blackberry's decision this week to end their agreement with us.
"But here's what really matters most for Blackberry owners. Whether you're an individual customer or business customer, nothing changes. Nada. Zero. Zilch," he continued. "If you're already with T-Mobile, you can continue to count on us for the great service you've come to expect, the regular OS updates, and, of course, America's fastest nationwide 4G LTE network. None of that changes as far as we're concerned."
However, we can't help but think that Legere's letter is actually a ploy to get rid of the network's remaining Blackberry stock, with the operator offering punters $100 off each Blackberry Q10 or Blackberry Z10 smartphone.
"To show our appreciation for all current consumers so passionate and loyal to all things Blackberry, we're offering a $100 credit toward any new device, including the BlackBerry Q10 or the Z10. And this offer is good through the end of the year. So you can take your time," Legere added.
"I'll always fight for you. And our team remains committed to providing the same great Un-carrier experience to all BlackBerry users. At the end of the day, this has got to be about you - the customer."
Blackberry has declined to comment on Legere's letter, but the firm's CEO John Chen said earlier this week, "Blackberry has had a positive relationship with T-Mobile for many years. Regretfully, at this time, our strategies are not complementary and we must act in the best interest of our Blackberry customers.
"We hope to work with T-Mobile again in the future when our business strategies are aligned." µ
