MUSIC STREAMING SERVICE Spotify has rolled out a major redesign for its iPhone, web and desktop applications, with an Android update set to follow 'soon'.
The redesign is the most drastic change Spotify has seen since its launch in 2008, and sees the music streaming service getting a lick of black paint that Spotify claims makes content "pop" as if you're in a cinema. As well as its revamped dark colour scheme, there are also new fonts and design tweaks throughout.
Spotify said in a blog post on Wednesday, "Today we're launching the best-looking Spotify ever. Introducing a new darker theme, refreshed typography and rounded iconography, playing your favourite music has never looked so good."
Spotify has also added two new features to the service. The first of these is 'Your Music', which lets users "save albums and browse their beautiful cover art, gather favourite artists and create playlists for every mood and moment". The second is an improvement to its Browse functionality, which now delivers "more relevant and localised content", likely thanks to the firm's recent Echo Nest acquisition.
"We know how much you love playlists, but that you’ve been looking for more ways of managing your music. So today we're introducing Your Music: helping you save, organise and browse your favourite music the way you want to. All in one place, and across all platforms."
Spotify also claims that the redesign makes the service much faster to use than before too, and boasts that searching across all platforms has been vastly improved," Spotify added.
The revamped Spotify design is available now in its iOS, web and desktop applications software, with the firm promising that it will be available across all platforms soon. It is free to download, but users will need a Premium account, priced at £9.99 per month, to access all of Spotify's features. µ
