LAS VEGAS: TRACTOR MAKER Caterpillar unveiled its latest rugged mobile phone at CES last week, the Cat B100, and we managed to get some hands-on time with the handset while we were there to put the firm's big claims to the test.

According to the firm, despite sporting low-end specifications, the Cat B100 is one of the most rugged mobile phones on the market. With 1P57 certification, the device is resistant against water, dust, scratches and extreme temperatures, with the Cat B100 showing no signs of stuttering in heat up to 55 degrees celsius or freezing cold down to minus 25 degrees celsius.

The handset, with its focus on construction workers, also comes with unique noise cancellation technology, which means that calls should be crystal clear even in the noisiest environments.

The Cat B100 will be available in the UK this quarter, although there's no word on pricing yet.

Check back soon for our review of the Cat B100. µ
