A girl I know wrote gullible on the ceiling of her school. She kept telling people that the word was written on the ceiling - Charlie Demerjian
GAMES CONSOLE MAKER Microsoft has announced that it has already sold more than three million of its recently released Xbox One console.
The console went on sale in November. Since then we have had Christmas, and a number of birthdays, and apparently some people have either bought or been gifted a unit in the days between.
Microsoft, which does not regularly have much of a hit on its hands these days, is beside itself with excitement about this.
Microsoft VP for Xbox marketing and strategy Yusef Mehdi popped off a party popper and thanked loyal followers for such a good year and last minute sales burst. So popular was the console at the end of 2013 that retailers ran out! Shock! Mehdi said, cool your thumbs, more are on the way.
"Over three million Xbox One consoles were sold to consumers in 13 countries before the end of 2013. It's been incredible to see Xbox One selling at a record-setting pace for Xbox, and we were honoured to see Xbox One become the fastest-selling console in the US during our launch month in November," said the marketing VP.
"Since our launch, demand for Xbox One has been strong, selling out throughout the holidays at most retailers worldwide. We are continuing to work hard to deliver additional consoles to retailers as fast as possible."
People have been playing games, he added, but have also been doing what Microsoft wanted them to do, which is to use the console as an all-in-one entertainment machine.
The Xbox One has designs on your digital set-top box, amongst other things, and Mehdi said that it is already hoovering up eyeballs.
"We also love that you are seeing the promise of an all-in-one entertainment system. Millions of hours of live TV have been watched and millions of hours of app entertainment have been enjoyed," he added. "We are proud to have the most passionate, engaged, and simply the best fans in the world. It was fun to share the holidays with so many of you." µ
