BUBBLY MOBILE OPERATOR O2 launched 4G tariffs aimed at budget conscious shoppers on Thursday, and revealed that it has hit its LTE coverage target ahead of schedule.

O2's 4G Refresh Airtime tariffs now start at £17 a month and come with unlimited texts, minutes and 1GB of data. The mobile operator has also added £22 and £27 alternatives, which offer 5GB and 8GB of data, respectively.

Before you bound on over to the O2 website, it is worth noting that O2's Refresh Airtime tariffs charge you for your smartphone seperately, so this will be added to the cost of the tariff.

"With O2 Refresh, customers choose how much they want to pay for their handset, between £5 and £15 a month," the network explained.

O2 has also announced a handful of new 12 month SIM-only tariffs priced at £21, £26 and £31. These all offer unlimited minutes and unlimited texts, and come with 1GB, 5GB and 8GB of data, respectively.

O2 GM of Marketing Phil Maple said, "We are committed to helping our customers unleash the possibilities of 4G, which is why we're introducing these new tariffs designed to give even more people the chance to experience the very best in mobile technology.

Maple added that, following O2's launch of its 4G network on 29 August, the firm has reached its coverage target six weeks ahead of schedule, with the service now covering 14 cities and 130 surrounding towns, a third of the UK population.

"Nearly a third of the UK population can now experience the remarkable things that O2 4G has to offer, thanks to the fastest network rollout in our history," he added. µ
