Looks to rival Now TV

A STREAMING TV SERVICE called VuTV arrived in the UK on Thursday, offering Freeview HD customers the option to add 13 extra channels for £6.99 per month.

Clearly looking to rival Sky's Now TV service, VuTV is targeting homes without a pay TV service that instead have opted for a Freeview HD box.

All Freeview HD users need to do to access the service is ensure that their Freeview HD box is hooked up to the internet and sign up to VuTV's £6.99 per month scheme. They can then watch the VuTV content, all through channel 238.

VuTV director Dan Finch said, "Today is very exciting as it heralds the launch of VuTV on Freeview, giving consumers the choice of more channels through their existing Connected TV and remote control, all delivered over the Internet.

"VuTV will become the home of great value, premium channels on your TV set."

VuTV brings an additional 13 channels to Freeview customers, and it looks like the company is going after families, given its offerings. The full list of channels includes Comedy Central, MTV, CNN, Lifetime, History, H2, Crime & Investigation Network, Nickelodeon, Nicktoons, Nick Jr, Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Cartoonito.

The VuTV service has been keen to talk up the programmes you'll be able to watch over Christmas. These include Spongebob Squarepants, South Park and, our personal favourite, Pawn Stars.

VuTV is available now, and the company is offering a 14 day free trial. You can sign up on the VuTV website. µ
