GAMES FIRM Dotemu is lining up handheld versions of the classic arcade game series Double Dragon for a release before the end of the year.
The firm has released a trailer for the game trilogy and is promising a full version of the classic titles Double Dragon, Double Dragon 2: The Revenge, and Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone.
Arcade titles from the time when 10p could still get you something have been missing for decades. Brothers Billy and Jimmy are still heavily martial arts trained and still looking for the kidnap happy Black Shadows Gang.
Dotemu called the game series "the undisputed godfather of co-op beat 'em all!", adding that a variety of takedown moves including "punches, kicks, elbows, knees, head-butts and an assortment of not-exactly-street-legal weapons" are all included.
There are two game modes, Arcade, which some older gamers might find familiar, and Story, which is an episodic alternative.
Also down to the player is the soundtrack that accompanies the kicking and the headbutting and the slashing, and Dotemu said that you can choose between the original 8bit version and a newer, glossier sounding one.
There are three levels of difficulty - mobile, original and expert - the latter of which is perhaps unsurprisingly the trickiest, and you can track your progress and the progress of those around you in the Apple and Google game centre webpages.
Bluetooth games controllers are also supported, as is two player gaming, which again is supported through Bluetooth. µ
But it's probably not going to be available to customers anytime soon
