SOFTWARE DEVELOPER Google's Android 4.3 Jelly Bean mobile operating system has started rolling out to Samsung Galaxy S4 handsets, right on schedule.
Samsung had promised that the update would arrive in October, and low and behold, it has. Sammobile reports that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is now making its way to unlocked Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE (GT-I9505) handsets.
Those who have managed to get their hands on the update are in for a treat, as Android 4.3 Jelly Bean delivers a horde of new features to Samsung's Galaxy S4 handset. We have yet to give the release a spin on our Galaxy S4, but reports claim that while the handset visually isn't very different, it feels a lot faster and smoother than before.
Another notable addition is support for the Samsung Galaxy Gear, which means that users of the smartphone can now pair their handset with the Bluetooth smartwatch. Previously, the smartwatch gadget had supported only the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 handset.
The rest of the changes perhaps won't be as noticeable, but likely will improve the device's performance. Other tweaks include OpenGL 3.0 support, Samsung KNOX implementation, the addition of Samsung Wallet, improved RAM management and display colour reproduction, an enhanced keyboard, reader mode, a new web browser, and an improved camera user interface.
The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update reportedly is rolling out in stages, so don't panic if you haven't got your hands on it yet. To check if it is available, go to Settings > More > About Device > Software update > Update. If it's available, it will be available to download over the air.

We've managed to download the update onto our Samsung Galaxy S4, which installed without any hiccups in just a few minutes. µ
