UPMARKET RETAILER Selfridges has promptly started taking pre-orders for the Blackberry Z30 smartphone ahead of its release on 26 September.
Blackberry announced the Z30 today, its highest specification Blackberry 10 smartphone to date. While it must be pinning a lot of hope on the success of its latest smartphone, it seems that the device will also be the firm's most expensive Blackberry handset to date, with Selfridges pricing the Z30 at a cool £600.
From what we can see, the Blackberry Z30 is not yet available to order on pay monthly tariffs, but Blackberry has said that it will be available across multiple networks. With Selfridges having revealed the handset's release date as 26 September, it's likely that more pricing details will be made available any day now.
So, what will you get for your £600? It's the largest Blackberry smartphone so far, featuring a 5in 1280x720 Super AMOLED display, but it might struggle to match its competitors with a dual-core 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
It's also the first Blackberry to run the firm's latest Blackberry 10.2 mobile operating system that will be coming to the Blackberry Q5, Q10 and Z10 late next month, providing the phone with message previews, new sound technology for clearer BBM calls and battery enhancements.
The Blackberry Z30 also has 2GB of RAM, dual 8MP and 2MP cameras, 16GB of internal storage expandable via microSD card, NFC, 4G LTE support and a 2,880mAh battery, which Blackberry claims will offer up 25 hours of battery life thanks to its Blackberry 10.2 software enhancements. µ
