ALTHOUGH IT ONCE SAID different, Microsoft will give only some Xbox One punters a free copy of football game FIFA 14.
We had thought that anyone buying the games console in its early days would get a copy of the game, however, apparently only people that buy a European Day One Edition will get the free game. This means that anyone who orders the standard model Xbox One will be left pressing their nose up against the free footie game window.
This is a change from an earlier but now deleted tweet from the Xbox team. Responding to a question from a punter who ordered his console from Sainsbury's, the Xbox twitter account said, "All pre-orders come with FIFA 14 in Europe. Doesn't matter if it's a Day One console or not."
However. That tweet has now been deleted and the only answers we can find about whether the game will be bundled with all versions of the Xbox One are negative.
Graeme Boyd, social marketing manager for Xbox in the EMEA region poured sand over the earlier claims and said that some people were due a talking to.
"Day One Editions only. I've let the team on that Twitter account know. The Day One Edition Xbox One FIFA 14 offer is valid in Europe, this holiday, while stocks last," he said. "Unless it's a Day One Edition you are not eligible for FIFA 14."
FIFA 14 will be joined by over 20 other game titles at launch, including at least one Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Zumba Fitness: World Party. µ
