THE MUSICAL ACCOMPANIMENT to Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V has been leaked by Reddit users and a post at the Sony website.

Users at the news dissection website have examined Sony preorder download information and come across the soundtrack.

As you would expect from Rockstar, it is big and good, and covers a range of popular genres.

Reddit user Bankershanker produced a list. It is long and detailed and has a hip-hop radio station, a pop station, classic rock, punk and Soulwax FM.

Hip-hop fans can enjoy the soothing tones of Geto Boys' Mind Playin' Tricks and NWA's Gangsta Gangsta.

The classic rock station brings in the Doobie Brothers, Queen, Rick James and Elton John, while the pop selection takes in Britney Spears, the Pet Shop Boys and Rihanna.

It is estimated that there are somewhere between 20 and 30 hours worth of music. This makes sense since the free roaming open world, multi-character game is expected to be huge in scale.

A download package of some of the music has already been released to filesharing websites. That is said to be about three hours long.

A labour of love is under way as people work through the list and post the names of songs and links to their Youtube videos.

This hasn't gone down well at Sony where the downloaded information comes from, or at Rockstar, and both firms have lamented the leak.

"Regrettably, some people who downloaded the digital pre-order of Grand Theft Auto V through the Playstation Store in Europe were able to access certain GTA V assets. These assets were posted online. We have since removed the digital preorder file from the Playstation Store in Europe," said Sony.

"We sincerely apologize to Rockstar and GTA fans across the world who were exposed to the spoiler content. GTA V is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year with a very passionate following, and we're looking forward to a historic launch on 17th September."

Rockstar asked people to stop sharing information, cool their boots and wait for commercial sources to release GTA goodies.

"As you can imagine, we are deeply disappointed by leaks and spoilers being spread in advance of the game's launch," Rockstar said. "GTA V represents years of hard work by many people across the world". µ
