FRENCH GAMES HOUSE Ubisoft has released a short live action trailer for Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.

A lot of the game takes place at sea and most of the live action here does too. The live action trailer is a bit of a mystery since it does not provide a look at gameplay, or more specifically in-game play, but it does provide an idea of what to expect.

In this case you should expect to stand on a boat, jump off a boat, see boats and fire and go underwater.

"In the cruel world of pirates, men fight for their dreams. But few achieve their goals, Others will drown into darkness, Thin is the line between chaos and freedom," says Ubisoft. "And the sea can either be your throne, or your tomb. The choice is yours."

The trailer is pretty exciting. We see limbs separated from bodies and our hero standing on top of a flag pole.

A voiceover tells us that life is about choices and smacking people. "We have a choice to stand not kneel. To oppose not obey. To live not just exist," it says before introducing the Defy text that gives the trailer its name.

There are some short clips of what could be in-game smackery, we can't be sure. The trailer closes with a glimpse of the many consoles that the game will call home and the promise of a 1 November release date.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will be released for the Nintendo Wii U, PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4 and PS3. µ
