ONLINE RETAILER Amazon will offer anyone who owns an Xbox One and wants to upgrade an existing Xbox 360 game for it the chance to do so for just $10.
An Amazon promotion called "One up your game" is offering its customers the chance to swap games until the end of the year.
This might be handy. The newer Microsoft console is expected to be released in late November, at least in the US. If that time is met then users will have around a month to dig up Xbox 360 titles and send them back to Amazon.
"Until December 31, 2013, trade in a select Xbox 360 game and get a $25 bonus credit toward the same title on Xbox One in addition to your trade-in value of at least $25," says Amazon.
"As long as you trade in the Xbox 360 version with Amazon and buy the Xbox One version from Amazon, this [programme] will apply to you."
If you want to take this deal, you will need to buy your new Xbox One console from Amazon.com and swap a game like for like.
Amazon has a list of the applicable titles online already. They are pretty much as you would expect and include games like FIFA 14 and Call of Duty: Ghosts.
It's interesting, as some of the games are not out yet. Amazon presumably is expecting people to invest in those just weeks before the newer console is released.
Users must begin the trade-in process between 18 August and 31 December this year. The promotion is limited to one title per customer. We will update this story if Amazon reveals that a UK release is on the cards. µ
Pre-orders to begin on 9 September with release to follow on 16 September
