A POST at Bittorrent news website Torrent Freak reports that Breaking Bad series five part two has been an immediate success among downloaders.
The latest episodes of the TV show are appearing on Netflix the day after they appear on US television. However, they are also popping up online at filesharing websites.
According to the Torrent Freak blog, a few hours after the first torrent of Breaking Bad went online it was being shared by 80,000 people. It was not long until half a million people were involved.
"Just a few hours after the first unauthorized copy of Breaking Bad appeared online, 80,000 people were sharing the episode simultaneously through the most popular torrent file. After 12 hours, half a million people had already grabbed a copy via Bittorrent, and this number is increasing rapidly," it said.
"From the looks of it, Breaking Bad is well on its way to beat the record of 2,580,000 downloads it set last year."
Data gathered by Torrent Freak suggests that Australians are keenest on breaking bad themselves, and 16 percent of all the download traffic is headed in that direction.
In the Netherlands, where the show has already been aired on public television, it is still a popular download, and 2.8 percent of digital copies have found homes there.
The United States, where again it has been broadcast on television, lags 0.1 percent behind Australia, Canada is third with just under 10 percent, and the UK is fourth with less than nine percent. µ
