KOREAN PHONE MAKER LG's latest flagship G2 smartphone will be released in the UK in October, Carphone Warehouse has revealed.
The LG G2 handset is on the Carphone Warehouse coming soon webpage alongside an October release date. This is the first information we've seen about LG's UK availability plans for its G2 smartphone, with the firm saying vaguely at yesterday's unveiling that it would be released in Europe within "the next eight weeks".
Unless the handset arrives at the beginning of October it looks like it might not be out within eight weeks, with Carphone Warehouse yet to specify a release date. However, the retailer pointed out that this October date is subject to change.
The LG G2 is arguably the firm's highest specification handset to date, featuring a 5.2in edge to edge HD 1080p IPS display, a quad-core 2.26GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and a 3,000mAh battery.
The handset is also the first to feature hardware buttons on its rear, with its standby button and volume keys sitting alongside the phone's 13MP camera sensor, which LG claims will make the handset easier to operate and will result in fewer drops.
Other LG G2 specifications include Google's Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean mobile operating system, LG's custom Android user interface, 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage and a 2.1MP front-facing camera. It will be available in both black and white.
As revealed earlier today, the LG G2 will also be available on the Three network when it arrives. There's no word on the handset's pricing yet, although it's likely to be above the £500 mark. µ
