STREAMING ON DEMAND and DVD on your doorstep company Lovefilm is shutting down its rental of console games.

Lovefilm has offered game rentals for years, but as of last week it has quit the game business.

Games are still listed on the Lovefilm website, but listings are where that relationship ends, though you can still change your settings to reflect what kind of console you have.

Ultimately, the hard word comes in the Lovefilm terms and conditions and there we learn that the firm will focus on shifting TV and movie content.

"We are no longer offering games rental packages to either new customers, or those who wish to change from a non-games package," it said.

"In order to give the best possible service that we can, we are looking to focus on our strength, which is providing the best selection of film and TV content for our customers, and making it available whenever and wherever you want it."

The change was first noticed by gaming website Gamebrit, and the TV and movie rental firm confirmed to the website that it stopped offering software titles late last month.

"Lovefilm confirms games rental will no longer be available to new customers signing up to its service in the UK, with effect w/c 24th June," it said.

"We are no longer offering games rental packages to either new customers, or those who wish to change from a non-games package."

We checked, and we couldn't find any option to select games in a rental package. µ
