KOREAN HARDWARE GIANT Samsung has announced that its 55in Curved OLED TV is available for sale, but only in Korea.
Samsung showed off the curved screen TV at an event in Seoul yesterday and announced that it is available to buy for an amount equivalent to £8,500.
The curved screen TV was unveiled at CES earlier this year. The design, Samsung said, "is inspired by a 'Timeless Arena'", where the display is placed within a frame whose curved shape mirrors the curvature of an arena.
"Because of this, the panel keeps the distance between the viewer and TV screen the same from almost any angle for a more lifelike viewing experience," Samsung said in its Samsung Tomorrow blog post.
"This technology is made possible through the rapid response time of the screen and exclusive 3D glasses with built-in earphones that deliver separate audio to each viewer."
A "multi view" feature also allows viewers to watch two different live TV programs simultaneously on the TV.
Samsung said its curved screen OLED TV is also compatible with the "Evolution Kit" so that it is future-proofed and can be updated to take advantage of features found on the firm's flagship Smart TVs and UHD TVs.
At the event Samsung also unveiled its 55in and 65in F9000 UHD TV, which boasts picture quality four times the resolution of Full HD TV. µ
