SUBSCRIPTION TV SERVICE Youview launched a free app for Android devices today.
The application allows customers to record their favourite TV programmes remotely from their tablets and smartphones devices running Google's Android mobile operating system.
The app, which is already available for iOS, provides listings for over 70 digital TV and radio channels for the next seven days, with full programme information details. Youview said the app will display programme schedules listed by "now and next", as well as day by day listings per channel.
The Android app also allows Youview customers to record their favourite television programmes and series onto their Youview set-top box, while on the move.
Developed inhouse at Youview, the app "securely connects up to 5 mobile devices", the firm claimed, and we can expect "further updates" available later this year.
The Youview App is free to download from Google Play Store from today, and it's compatible with devices running Android 2.3.3 and above.
Youview recently announced that it is closing in on 400,000 users enjoying its TV services in the UK. The service launched eight months ago and is pleased with its performance so far. As an internet streaming TV service it takes on Sky, Virgin Media, and Freesat.
"We've had a great start and we're delighted to have received such a positive response from consumers. We're already the fastest growing TV service in the UK and now we can see that translating into viewing," said Youview CEO Richard Halton. µ
