FINNISH GAME DEVELOPER Rovio has teased an upcoming game called Angry Birds Go, which looks a bit like a Mario Kart ripoff.
Seemingly realising that its fans are getting bored of flinging birds at pigs, Rovio is looking to branch out a little by releasing an driving game called Angry Birds Go.
The firm has released a teaser trailer, a short clip that features Mario Kart style countdown noises, and shows off what looks like a racing track. Once the countdown ticks down to 'Go', we see a ball of red features zoom down the track, hinting that the usual suspects will appear in the upcoming game.
Rovio said in a blog post, "Those birds and piggies are getting ready for their most thrilling and action-packed game yet! All your favorite characters are returning for a brand new title that will bring you closer to Piggy Island than ever before. It's Angry Birds, but not as you know it!"
This should be a quite popular game, and it sees Rovio filling a hole that Nintendo apparently won't, having announced this week that it has no plans to extend its Mario Kart title to mobile devices. We can expect to see Angry Birds Go merchandise popping up all over the place following the title's debut.
Rovio hinted that Angry Birds Go isn't all it's got up its feathered sleeves. The firm said, "And this is just a taste of the awesome things to come. Be on the look out for more updates over the summer."
Rovio has yet to confirm when and where we'll be seeing Angry Birds Go, but we assume that it will appear on iOS and Android any day now. µ
