GAMES HOUSE Lionhead Studios has teased fans of its Fable game with a trailer for an HD remake of the series' original episode.
In a tweeted message posted late on Monday the firm looked to kick off discussion in its new forums, and linked to the teaser.
"Now wouldn't it be silly to have a new forum but nothing new to talk about?" it said. "Would a new teaser help?"
It's a different kind of trailer. Most of it is made up of Twitter messages being typed and sent to the studio.
They all ask the same thing, though to some different tunes, and that is, "Will you ever make an HD version of the original Fable?"
The answer appears to be yes. Once we've been over the tweets we are shown a very recognisable character, Jack of Blades, who wears a mask, and is the the main villain of the 2004 Fable.
"I have returned. after an eternity away from you all, Jack of Blades is back," he says.
We are then left with the text, "For every choice, a consequence... and the hashtag #Hidethechickens. There follows an Xbox 360 bumper and a Microsoft sign.
There is no release information, and no mention of support for other games systems, or the PC. It is possible that the game will be an Xbox 360 exclusive, which might annoy some of its original players.
Still, the return of Jack, and the prospect of chasing chickens, is very tempting, regardless of its platform.
We expect we'll learn more at the E3 games conference next week. µ
