FINNISH PHONE MAKER Nokia has summoned the media to a press event in London on 14 May, where the firm is expected to announce its next generation Lumia flagship smartphone.
The invitation that we found in our inbox on Friday gave little away as to what we can expect, although it confirmed that we'll be seeing the latest addition to the Finns' Windows Phone 8 Lumia lineup, inviting us to see what's next in the "Lumia story."
Given that Nokia introduced a pair of affordable smartphones, the Lumia 520 and Lumia 720, at this year's Mobile World Congress, we're expecting something big, and so we should if rumours are to be believed.
Earlier this month we reported that Nokia is planning to release a 5in Windows Phone 8 'phablet', in a bid to tackle Samsung's Galaxy Note 2 smartphone. This, if rumours are to be believed, will feature a 5in touchscreen, and it could be the first quad-core Windows Phone 8 device.
There's also talk that Nokia is gearing up to launch its first 'proper' Pureview Windows Phone handset that reportedly will feature a 41MP camera similar to that on the Pureview 808. The handset, which is tipped to launch as a sequel to the Lumia 920, also apparently will feature an aluminum casing and will be much thinner than its predecessor.
Nokia would not give us any further information about what we can expect at next month's event. We'll be at Nokia's Lumia launch on 14 May, so check back then for all the latest. µ
