BUBBLY MOBILE OPERATOR O2 has revealed that it will sell LG's Optimus L5II and L3II smartphones, with a release date pegged for later this month.
We spotted the duo of smartphones on O2's Coming Soon webpage on Monday, the first confirmation we've had that LG's L series II handsets will be released in the UK. O2's listing reveals that it will start selling the Optimus L5II and L3II later this month, but there's no word on pricing for the handsets yet.
LG unveiled its Optimus L series II smartphones just days ahead of this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) to prevent its announcement from getting lost in the horde of Barcelona launch events. The LG Optimus L7II is the top of the line handset in the series, but it doesn't look like O2 has any plans to offer this smartphone yet.
Instead, O2 will be offering the cheaper LG Optimus L5II. This mid-range smartphone features a 4in WVGA touchscreen and has a 1GHz processor and Google's Android 4.1 Jelly Bean mobile operating system. There's also a 5MP rear-facing camera, 4GB of internal storage expandable with up to 32GB and a 1,700mAh battery.
The LG Optimus L3II, also confirmed for O2, is likely to be even cheaper than its L5II sibling, if its specifications are anything to go by. This handset features a 3.2in 240x320 touchscreen, a 1GHz processor, Android Jelly Bean, a 3MP rear-facing camera and a 1,540mAh battery.
There's no word on an exact release date for either smartphone yet, but we've contacted O2 to ask for further information. µ
