KOREAN HARDWARE MAKER LG announced on Thursday that it is bringing its 55in OLED TV to the UK.
LG announced its 55in OLED TV just days ahead of this year's Consumer Electronics Show, touting its ability to deliver vivid colours despite measuring just 4mm thick, thanks to the firm's WRGB technology.
There's good news for deep pocketed UK punters today, as LG has said that its big OLED TV will go on sale at Harrods. It is available to preorder from Harrods Knightbridge now for a cool £9,999 ahead of its release date in July. There's no specific release date yet, but we've put the question to LG.
Brian Na, president of LG Electronics UK said, "We are proud to be the first in the world to offer consumers a big screen OLED TV.
"LG's next generation display is a true game changer, which will forever alter the way we think about TVs. Since OLED TV was first unveiled, we've been working tirelessly to bring what we call ‘the ultimate display' to market. I'm sure you'll agree that our 55in OLED TV has definitely been worth the wait."
If you're still no sure if you want to whip our your cheque book and blow £10,000 on the largest OLED TV to come to Blighty, maybe its specifications will convince you.
As well as measuring a mere 4mm thick, LG's 55in OLED TV, model number 55EM970V, features 'cinema-quality' 3D capabilities and an edge-to-edge Cinema Screen Design. It also weighs just 10kg, so you can even carry it home from Harrods on the tube.
For those who think £9,999 is a little on the cheap side, Harrods also offers LG's more expensive 84in Ultra HD TV. µ
