Buffalo unveils its 8.8mm 500GB Ministation Slim

EXTERNAL STORAGE VENDOR Buffalo has unveiled an ultra-thin storage unit that it claims is the thinnest on the market, measuring just 8.8mm thick.

The Ministation Slim offers 500GB of storage and has data transfer speeds of 5Gbit/s via a USB 3.0 port. It can also double as a hard disk drive recorder for audio and video content.

The full dimensions of the device are 8.8mm thick, 11.5cm long and 7.9cm wide and it weighs 140g. The firm said it's compatible with Microsoft's latest operating system Windows 8, as well as Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP, along with Mac OS X 10.5 or later.

"The Ministation Slim is the latest addition to the Buffalo Ministation family, and is a sleek, high performance, high capacity on-the-go storage gadget," added Paul Hudson, Buffalo's sales director for Northern Europe.

The Ministation Slim will be available from Buffalo's resellers from £60 and comes in either red, black or silver.

The release is the latest in a series of updated products from the firm after it launched its first enterprise class products earlier this year, the Terastation 7120r and Terastation 7120r Enterprise.

These are both 2U rackmount arrays supporting up to 12 enterprise SATA hard disks with four gigabit Ethernet ports for connectivity and controllers based on quad-core Intel Xeon processors. µ
