STORAGE VENDOR Buffalo updated its Terastation 5000 line of network attached storage (NAS) systems today, announcing models that will come preloaded with Trend Micro antivirus software to protect data from security vulnerabilities in real time.
Aimed at small to medium businesses, the Terastation 5000 Anti-Virus TS5000V is available in 4TB, 8TB and 16TB versions. Buffalo claimed that the devices are the only models of their kind on the market to support real time scanning with the Trend Micro antivirus software.
"This ensures that data is constantly monitored and, in the case of a virus, an alarm is immediately raised and infected files are automatically removed and saved to a protected folder to prevent the virus [from] spreading." Buffalo said.
Buffalo said the storage devices aim to provide growing small to medium businesses and enterprises with simple and reliable antivirus protection.
"The antivirus function is validated on purchase and there is no need for extra configuration after setup, giving users a hassle-free advanced level of security," Buffalo added.
"Viruses from personal and external devices are prevented and only authenticated users can access the network, protecting corporate data."
Buffalo said that its line of Terastation Anti-Virus NAS devices will be available from Buffalo's distributors in the UK from £769.99 for the 4TB Terastation 5200 Anti-Virus up to £1,149.99 for the 8TB Terastation 5400 Anti-Virus and £2,099.99 for the 16TB Terastation 5400 Rackmount Anti-Virus. µ
